Hyderabad: Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) have reached an understanding to work together for the development of Telangana State. However, the MIM will not be joining the TRS government.
The TRS MLAs -- Etela Rajender, K Taraka Ramarao, Nayani Narasimha Reddy and T Padma Rao -- were closeted for two hours with Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi at the latter’s residence in Banjara Hills here on Monday.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Asaduddin laid emphasis on transforming Telangana into a leading State in the country. The brand image of Hyderabad should be improved so that more investments poured into the new State, he said.
He also stressed the need for maintaining the secular fabric in the new State. The MIM leader hoped that TRS chief KCR, who had promised to keep communal forces at bay before the elections, would maintain the same stand in future also. Asaduddin informed that he would soon meet Telangana Chief Minister-designate KCR to strengthen the ties between the two parties. He said that they had requested Hyderabad Police Commissioner to step up security for Akbaruddin Owaisi in view of the arrest of a Karnataka based gang that was hired to kill him. The MIM chief also sought a thorough probe into this issue.
Taraka Ramarao said, “The MIM has always been a friendly alliance for us. The TRS wants to take everyone on board in rebuilding the new State of Telangana. Besides development, our motto is to transform the lives of poor Muslims and Christians in the new State.”
Nayani Narasimha Reddy said that the TRS would even reach out to the left parties for cooperation.
