Kadapa: As many as 37 passengers who set out to Benguluru from Chirala in Prakasam district on Friday evening were put to lot of inconvenience when the Indra bus in which they were travelling developed snags and the passengers were forced to sit on the road in the remaining part of the night.

The bus soon after leaving Chirala developed snags repeatedly during the journey. The bus driver made some minor repairs and got the bus started. However, fearing that the bus might fail to start again if he stopped it, he decided go ahead with the journey continuously without halting anywhere.

With the result, passengers had to go without food. After midnight, the bus developed technical snags again and came to a halt near the forest area of Guvvalacheruvu on the outskirts of Kadapa. The driver could not repair it and as a result, the helpless passengers, had to spend the entire night on the road counting the stars. Even small children had to go without water, milk and food as the driver did not stop anywhere while it was passing through the towns.

Although the passengers went without sleep on the road during the remaining part of night, the APSRTC depot manager and other authorities did not make any alternate arrangements for their travel to Benguluru and they were totally indifferent though a complaint was made in this regard. Some of them who had to attend an interview in Benguluru were forced to miss it as they remained in Kadapa even at 7.30 AM on Saturday.
