Hyderabad: Fire broke out in the kitchen of Paradise Hotel located at SD Road, Secunderabad on Sunday. However, no casualties were reported.
Traffic came to a standstill on the busy SD Road following the incident.
According to fire officials, thick smoke and flames were seen emerging from the chimney of the ‘Take Away’ section of the hotel.
“We received a call at 11.30 am and immediately rushed to the spot and doused the flames in 30 minutes,” said G Venkateswar, Secunderabad fire officer. The chimney of the building at the parcel section that had not been cleaned for about a year had a thick layer of smoke, ash and oil on its sides. “This dirt fuelled the fire when the cooking was going on in the hotel kitchen around 11 am,” said the fire service personnel.
Some customers, who were in the hotel, were asked to leave the shop immediately. The loss of property was estimated at Rs 4 lakh.
Secunderabad MP, Bandaru Dattatreya and Hyderabad Mayor Majid Hussain visited the spot.
