YS Vijayamma to contest in Allagadda by-elections?

YS Vijayamma, the honorary president of YSR Congress Party, has faced a great defeat in the recently concluded general elections. It is evident that she has contested from Viskahapatnam Lok Sabha constituency and was defeated by Kambampati Hari Babu, the BJP candidate.

From the other end, even after the tragic death of Shobha Nagireddy, the YSR Congress Party candidate from the Allgadda assembly constituency, she was elected by the people of the constituency. Initially, the Chief Election Commissioner of the state Banwar Lal said that the votes polled for Shobha Nagireddy will not be considered and in case if the bereaved candidate gets the majority, the one who will stand next to her in the race would be declared as the winner. Nevertheless, with the intervention and the clarity received from the National Election Commission, it was later decided that in case late Shobha Nagireddy wins the poll, there will be a by election for Allagadda constituency. As envisaged, Shobha Nagireddy won the polls and now the by-election becomes a must.

So many speculations made rounds that the YSRCP ticket would be allotted to some other member of the bereaved family, subsequently. But, it was all before the announcement of results. If the buzz is to be believed, YS Vijayamma would contest the by-elections from Allagadda assembly constituency. However, the same has not been authenticated so far by any of the YSR Congress Party leader.
