It’s a Game of Electricity Vs Coal. The electricity issue between the two states has ignited war between the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states. News making rounds that the supply of coal for the Thermal Power Plants located in Andhra Pradesh has been stopped by Telangana. Due to this, as much as 1200-1300MW electricity production will be hampered.

It is learnt the supply of coal to the Kadapa and Vijayawada thermal power plants was stopped in protest against the PPA cancellation proposal brought out by Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
It is evident that Andhra Pradesh government has been strongly determined on their decision to cancel the PPAs. Nevertheless, the Andhra Pradesh State reorganisation bill clearly says that the allocation of power was based on the existing consumption needs. According to sources, the stoppage of coal supply was premeditated to make Andhra Pradesh state government understand the impact if those choose to go with PPAs cancellation.
