Earlier in the day, the election commission has declared that Nirmala Sitharaman has won the Rajya Sabha seat from Andhra Pradesh that fell vacant due to the death of former chief minister Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy.

It is evident that initially the buzz had it that Pawan Kalyan would file nomination for the lone RS seat being vacated by the sad demise of Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy, the former Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. Nevertheless, finally the BJP high command in consultation with TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu had decided to send Nirmala from Andhra Pradesh and she was declared won the seat as there was no contender against her.
