Dalits vow to intensify stir over Tsundur issue

Vijayawada/Eluru: The Kula Vivaksha Vyathireka Porata Samithi (KVPS) staged a protest at the civil courts here on Monday in response to the call given by Tsunduru Dalita Porata Samithi. The KVPS and allied organisations demanded Telugu Desam government to take over the issue and challenge the verdict passed by the AP High Court in the Supreme Court.

KVPS district president T Nataraj said that the HC's order acquitting 21 accused was a shame to democracy. When the local court at Tsunduru decided 219 persons guilty in the dalit massacre, the High Court dismissing the case was nothing but injustice to the downtrodden communities. The KVPS and other allied associations severely condemned it. It is high time the new government filed the petition in the Supreme Court so that justice was rendered to the families of poor dalit victims. The associations from all districts including Telangana and Andhra Pradesh would intensify the agitation if Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu failed to take any action over the issue, added Nataraj.

Mala Mahanadu president N Monaraju, MRPS State president P Venkateswara Rao, Dalita Bahujana Front leader Bhaskar Rao, Dalita Porata Samithi secretary R Pitchaiah and members of other associations were present during the protest.

At Eluru, Representatives of the Left parties and various dalit organisations demonstrated in the town to register their protest against the ‘injustice’ in the massacre case. They took out a rally through the main streets raising slogans.

Members of the dalit organisation expressed anger against the government for the alleged anti-dalit stand. They pledged to continue the agitation till justice was done to dalits.Ends
