Hyderabad: Here is a piece of good news for couples waiting to enter the wedlock. About two lakh of such twosomes can hope to wed this month. Auspicious ‘muhurats’ are on August 13, 14 and 15. In view of this development, there is a heavy demand for items, including flowers, to be used for such occasions, marriage halls as also priests for conducting the ceremonies. Already ‘kalyana mandapams’ and cottages attached to temples are said to have been booked for celebrating weddings.
Flower traders say that they had never received such bulk orders like this ‘Sravanam’.
There is shortage of flowers because of inadequate rain this season. Only 12 to 13 days in the ‘Sravana Masam’ were found to be suitable for wedding, as decided by high priests. The would-be couples had to wait for the grand day as the inauspicious days from July 27 ended on August 8. There are no suitable days for weddings after August 21.
According to priests, ‘Amavasya’ falls on August 25, to be followed by ‘Bhadrapadam’.
No marriages are performed three days prior to ‘Amavasya’. Hence, the rush to complete the pending marriages on the three days.
