Guntur : The district administration on Thursday alerted the revenue ,police, irrigation officials to be in a state of preparedness to vacate people living in low-lying areas of coastal mandals if the inflows into the Nagarjunasagar Project continue. The water level reached 585.10 ft. The inflow of was 11.80 lakh cusecs.

To bring down the water level, one lakh cusecs is being released downstream. If inflows continue in next 24 hours low-lying areas would be in danger of inundation. The danger level in Sagar will be 592 ft. The situation is not alarming. The water level is stable at 585.5 feet. The low-lying areas that need to be evacuated if the situation worsens include Bapatla, Pichalavanipalem, Karlapalem, Repalle, Nizampatnam, Nagaram and Thelluru near Amaravathi. District collector Kantilal Dande called upon the police, revenue and irrigation officials to make arrangements for quick evacuation of people.
