Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has increased the upper age limit from 34 to 40 for the unemployed persons seeking government employment. An official note on Tuesday said as the direct recruitment was being conducted after some gap, the need for enhancing the upper age limit was necessitated due to inevitability of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and consequent fall out shrinking opportunities to the educated unemployed youth in the State.

The opportunities that existed before the bifurcation of combined Andhra Pradesh were lost after the division. Hence, the proposal to enhance the upper age limit from 34 to 40 years became a necessity. The GO would be applicable to all the government recruitment agencies till September 30, 2016.
