The AP government on Saturday announced the setting up of ‘Rythu Sadhikara Samstha’ (Farmer Empowerment Corporation) to oversee the implementation of crop loan waiver scheme and also provide aid to farmers in overcoming problems.

He inaugurated an RO plant in the village and opened a DWCRA exhibitionHyderabad: The AP government on Saturday announced the setting up of ‘Rythu Sadhikara Samstha’ (Farmer Empowerment Corporation) to oversee the implementation of crop loan waiver scheme and also provide aid to farmers in overcoming problems.

In its order the AP government stated that the new corporation wholly owned by it would be a one-stop shop for welfare and empowerment of farmers. Initially, it would be registered with an authorised capital of Rs 1 crore consisting of 10 lakh shares of Rs 10 each. The corporation will take care of all activities like farmers’ empowerment, capacity enhancement, credit flow, financial support and allied activities.

According to GO, the corporation will be registered under section 8 of the Companies Act 2013 and will have its headquarters in Vijayawada.

The government also accorded permission to the corporation to borrow or receive funds or any other financial instrument from banks , financial institutions to empower farmers, including the necessity to meet the debt obligations.
The corporation will be fully operational by October 22.

The Commissioner and Director of Agriculture is the designated nodal officer to coordinate, facilitate and implement farmer welfare schemes. National and international agriculture experts, official representatives, farmer’s representatives and others are to be nominated for the effective governance of the corporate body.
