Hyderabad: An hour after the rare hug with his AP counterpart at the Alai-Balai programme, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao name-called Mr Naidu a “most venomous snake” (Karko-taka) for not allowing Telangana state its share in the just-commissioned Krishnapatnam Thermal Station.

As per the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for establishment of the Krishnapatnam Thermal power station (2x800 MW) in Nellore, all the four power distribution companies (Discoms) had invested in the equity and as per the AP Reorganization Act, the power generated should be distributed among the two states. However, when the first unit of 800 MW was commissioned recently, Telangana was denied its share.

Telangana GENCO has already lodged a complaint with the Central Electricity Authority regarding this.

“Attention was being given to solve the power problems in the state, but it would take a minimum of three years to supply 24x7 power and I appeal to the people, including farmers, to bear with it. But my critics won’t understand this and are trying to blame me for this. In fact they have to blame themselves,” Mr Rao said.
