“I am happy that power supply has been partly restored and essential commodities are made available to all the affected people within a short time by curbing black marketing effectively,” he told newsmen at Begumpet airport.

Naidu returned to the city on Sunday evening after winding up his week-long stay in Visakhapatnam where he personally inspected relief and rehabilitation measures in the cyclone-hit areas. He received a rousing reception by Telangana TDP leaders at the airport. Leaders L Ramana, E Dayakar Rao and others were present.

The Chief Minister said all necessary arrangements had been made to supply food packets in the villages, which were badly affected, for some more days. The revenue and the agriculture departments had been asked to take up enumeration of the crop losses in the three districts. Extensive damage was reported, he noted.

Before leaving for Hyderabad, Naidu told reporters in Visakhapatnam that power supply would be restored in the coastal districts by October 25. The power supply would be restored up to 90 per cent in Visakhapatnam by October 23, in all the mandal headquarters of the three districts by October 22, and in most of the villages by October 25. Describing the Hudhud cyclone as unprecedented, he said 57 EHT towers of power transmission corporation had collapsed.

Stating that he would take up another round of visit to Visakhapatnam to oversee the relief operations in three days, Naidu called upon all sections of the society to participate in the rallies organised to instill confidence among people in the port city on October 23. He appreciated the efforts made by the government employees and other organisations in containing the human loss by initiating adequate precautionary measures in advance as well as for restoring normality fast.

As per a tentative schedule, the Chief Minister would visit Vijayawada and participate in the Police Commemoration Day celebrations on October 21. He would also attend the launch of the Farmers’ Empowerment Corporation there on the same day.
