During interaction with the Energy officials before leaving for Kadapa to attend official programmes, he said, “No industry should suffer for want of power in future and 24 x7 supply should be maintained at any cost.” The government would not tolerate even 24 minutes interruptions for any industry, small or big, in the interest of the public and economy of the State, he said.

The Chief Minister said all pending HT (High Tension) applications for the establishment of new industries should be cleared immediately.

He was informed that the application with an estimated load of 1,400 MW in Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) and Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) were under estimation. He instructed the power utilities to put up all out efforts to optimize the generation, further strengthen the Transmission and Distribution (T and D) network, expedite the setting up of conventional and renewable energy power plants and effectively implement the Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation programmes by adopting global practices.

Apart from this, Naidu asked the DISCOMS to procure maximum quantity of power to bridge the demand-supply gap on short and long term basis in a transparent way. He said the expenditure of procurement of additional power was not a constraint. His government was prepared to bear the burden, he said adding that the utilities should go for underground cables in major cities and towns in place of overhead lines to reduce power interruptions and inconvenience to people.

Naidu also informed the officials that Andhra Pradesh had now become a central point for investments and national and international companies were showing keen interests in investing in IT, automobiles, electronic hardware, agro based and petro chemical industries, pharmaceutical and energy sectors.
