Hyderabad: Memu Saitham, the mega telethon event that the Telugu film industry conducted here on Sunday, managed to strike a chord with the audience. The organisers raised Rs 11.5 crore through the event. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was handed over a cheque for the amount. He also received Rs 3.5 crore from Sun Network and Rs 43 lakh from the people of Hindupur, the constituency that his brother-in-law Nandumuri Balakrishna represents.

Naidu expressed his happiness over the way the whole industry stood up for the Hudhud Cyclone-affected people. “We did what all we can; we managed to restore power in three days. The people of the city too never lost courage.” He said he would build Vizag in such a way that even if another cyclone hits it, it will not cause any damage to it.
