Vijayawada: The 120th Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) meeting was held under the chairmanship of Pradeep Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, at the divisional office here on Thursday.

Speaking at the meeting, NV Satyanarayana, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager and secretary of DRUCC, urged the members to give their valuable suggestions for strengthening the railway administration and improving passenger amenities at railway stations.

In his address, Pradeep Kumar highlighted the good performance of the Vijayawada Railway Division on various fronts and the progress of development works.

N Seetharam Prasad, Additional DRM, DRUCC members Bayana Venkata Rao (Andhra Chamber of Commerce), Vomnina Satish Babu (secretary of Nellore Chamber of Commerce), K Rama Narasimha Rao (president of Tenali Railway Passengers Association), N Sudarsana Jyothi, (Advocate), Md Irfan, C Venkatarami Reddy and V Rangaraju (Rice Millers Association) participated in discussions.

The meeting covered various issues pertaining to setting up of escalators and lifts at railway stations, construction of foot over bridges, road over bridges, extension of train services, provision of toilets in suburban trains and ‘Dial for porter’.

The members urged the DRM and other railway officials to inspect their respective areas to study the problems faced by passengers and take remedial measures.

Later, the members felicitated Pradeep Kumar, Seetharam Prasad and Satyanarayana.
