Encourage RuPay debit card usage
RuPay debit card facility should be encouraged among the people, who possess the Pradhana Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Bank accounts, in East Godavari district by the end of December 31, said Collector Neethu Prasad.
Kakinada: RuPay debit card facility should be encouraged among the people, who possess the Pradhana Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Bank accounts, in East Godavari district by the end of December 31, said Collector Neethu Prasad. She attended the review meeting on the PMJDY progress in the district along with General Manager of Andhra Bank C Doraswamy at the DGM Office here on Thursday.
In this connection, she requested the bankers to concentrate on tribal areas, rural areas and some pockets in urban areas to open accounts under this scheme. Conducting of separate camps to cover the uncovered areas was also suggested by her. She promised the Banker to extend support from the district administration by providing staff for this purpose.
She said that as per the data available 1,69,127 households were yet to be covered out of 14, 28,528 total households in the district. She asked them to expedite this process to extend this facility to all families.
She further stated that this facility would entail the public to receive all the government benefits to their account, including overdraft facility after six months. This would also cover insurance benefit.
The Collector suggested to the bankers to use the farmers’ meet being held in the district to encourage the people to open PMJDY accounts in villages.
