Bhavani Deeksha Viramana, a grand five-day fete started on a pious note with the executive officer Ch Narasinga Rao along with priests lighting the homagundam atop Indrakeeladri. Thousands of Bhavanis (people who took the deeskha) relinquished their deeksha material in the sacred fire marking the culmination.

The 40-day deeksha will end at the temple from December 12 to 16. Around 8 to 10 lakh devotees are expected to have darshan of Goddess Durga in the temple to end their Bhavani Deeksha and necessary arrangements are made to ensure comfortable darshan to them and also help in the rituals of ending the Deeksha.

To meet the extra rush, 900 barbers are being deputed from different temples and also other places for the five days. These barbers will be in addition to the 105 barbers already on the rolls of the temple administration offering regular service. All of them are deployed at six bathing ghats in shift basis round the clock.

Given the number of devotees expected to participate in ‘Bhavani Deeksha Viramana’ rituals at the temple, administration is readying 16 lakh Prasadam packets. Further, for the convenience of Bhavanis, free transportation is being arranged from bus station and railway station, as well as bathing ghats to the temple for free of cost. Necessary arrangements are also being made for upkeep of sanitation and it is expected that 3-4 tractor loads of garbage on average will be cleared from both the temple and more from the bathing ghat every day during those five days.
