Hyderabad: The contentious issue of EAMCET on Tuesday reached Raj Bhavan as Andhra Pradesh government approached Governor E S L Narasimhan for his intervention. The Telangana government is also reportedly planning to move the High Court for a solution if the issue was not settled with the Governor, according to sources.

AP Human Resources Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday called on the Governor and complained against Telangana government for declaring conduct of separate EAMCET despite Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) declaring dates for the exam and other common tests on Monday. Ganta apprised the Governor of the situation in both States.

The AP Minister reportedly claimed that they have a right to conduct EAMCET as per AP Reorganisation Act. If Telangana government conducts EAMCET separately, then AP students in Telangana State would have to suffer irreparable loss, Ganta informed the Governor. The HRD Minister also urged the Governor to intervene and direct the Telangana government to follow dates released by the APSCHE.

The Governor is understood to have assured the Minister of an amicable solution. At this crucial juncture, the Governor, who is unhappy with the escalating row, is likely to call Telangana Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy and TSCHE Chairman Papi Reddy, Ganta Srinivas Rao and APSCHE Chairman Venugopal Reddy some time later to sort out the issue.

Informed sources said both the governments, which are at loggerheads, are reportedly planning to move High Court for a final verdict if they failed to find a solution at Raj Bhavan. On the other hand, Telangana Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy made it clear that the government would conduct separate EAMCET.
