Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Sunday demanded the TDP government to review the land acquisition policy adopted to acquire lands from farmers for the construction of new capital city between Vijayawada and Guntur.
Addressing the press here, party senior leader Ambati Rambabu said the government was acquiring more land than necessary to eke out huge profits for a select few, ignoring the interests of farmers.
“The State seems to be planning to do real estate business out of farmers’ land and is all set to acquire 5,000 acres of land by auction which would yield about Rs 75,000 crore profit once the land price goes up.
This is to benefit a select few of the TDP coterie at the cost of farmers,” he said. The YSRCP leader said the benefit of the land deal should go to those farmers who volunteered to give up their land but the State government seemed to be more inclined towards commercialisation of governance.
