  • Controversies surround structures in Krishna riverbed
  • 48 buildings on the Guntur side of the river and 18 on the Vijayawada side

These two incidents have racked up the issue of permanent constructions on both sides of the river. In addition to this, the capital location around this place, too, added spice to the issue. It was in the last week of December, 2014 Minister for Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao directed the Irrigation department to prepare a list of permanent structures. Accordingly, the officials have prepared a list and the file is now in the Chief Minister’s Office for further action.

When Amit Shah stayed in this guest house during his visit to the city, there were several adverse comments. It was during one of the television debates, BJP senior leader Raghunath Babu expressed doubts over the legality of the building and the damage that the party would get from it.
