Kakinada: Two APCC general secretaries Gidugu Rudra Raju and Pantam Nanaji on Sunday expressed hope that the Congress party would improve its performance in Delhi State Assembly elections.

They exuded confidence that the traditional vote bank of the party would play a crucial role in improving not only party's performance but also winning good number of Assembly segments.

Rudra Raju was appointed as AICC observer for Basarpur in Delhi by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. Rudra Raju said the Congress party would play a crucial role in the formation of new government after the polls. He felt that the Delhi polls were crucial to the party as they would be followed by polls in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

He said the traditional voters of the Congress party like Muslims, Christians and other sections would definitely cling to the party. Rudraraju said there was good response to Rahul Gandhi’s campaign. On the other hand, Nanaji felt that people had realised the non-performance of the NDA government during the last seven months and callousness of the AAP in quitting the government within 49 days of coming to power.
