Weddings blur on Godavari Pushkaram

Godavari Puskharam which are celebrated once in 12 years spell doom for the wedding industry, more particularly the rich and prosperous wedding planners of West and East Godavari districts in the state .

It is thee common belief in the region that due to anti clock movement of constellations there is an astrological paucity of good and auspicious muhurtams in the Hindu community for a minimum of one year .

In view of Pushkarams the last date for weddings in East and West Godavari Districts is allegedly June 11th. In spite of difference of opinion among the Brahmin Community and wedding pundits , a relief six months is provided by some while others call for ab blanket suspension of wedding for nearly an year . But there can be other sacred and private functions like gruha pravesham, Upanayanams etc but not weddings .

Godavari Pushkarams begin on July 14th when Bruhaspati enters Simharasi and last till July 25 People living on the East of Godavari will have to wait for 1 year and those on the west has to wait till Vijaya Dasami to get married.
