Pushkaram works at SNAIL’S pace
West Godavari district collector K Bhaskar took the officials to task for slow progress of Pushkaram works. The 13-day Pushkarams are due to begin from July 14. While reviewing the progress of works along with special officer for Godavari Pushkarams J Murali, Bhaskar reprimanded the officials for not calling even tenders. He put onus on the heads of the departments to show that all the works were completed.
Collector takes officials to task
Rajahmundry: West Godavari district collector K Bhaskar took the officials to task for slow progress of Pushkaram works. The 13-day Pushkarams are due to begin from July 14. While reviewing the progress of works along with special officer for Godavari Pushkarams J Murali, Bhaskar reprimanded the officials for not calling even tenders. He put onus on the heads of the departments to show that all the works were completed.
The Collector asked the Irrigation Department Superintending Engineer why not even one work relating to Puskharms was not launched. He expressed anger at the officials Roads and Buildings Department for not even keeping abreast of the progress of the works. He directed the officials of the Fire Services and Fisheries Department to deploy divers at the bathing ghats.
East Godavari Joint Collector S Satyannarayana, Sub-collector V Vijayarama Raju, trainee collector P Hari Kumar and Rajahmundry urban SP S Harikrishna were present at the meeting. Road works worth 87.55 cr taken up in East Godavari Kakinada: The Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department has identified some roads for development as part of preparations for the Godavari Pushkarams scheduled to begin on July 14.
Important among these are Madhurapudi Airport-Rajahmundry road, Godavari bund roads, Dowlaiswaram and Sitanagaram Road in Rajahmundry suburbs. In addition, roads connecting pilgrim centres from Jonnada-Kotipalli-Yanam road, Draksharama road (which connects one of the two Pancharama temples in the district), Amalapuram-Inavilli road and Sakhinetipalli-Antarvedi-Razole road were also listed for development.
