The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday issued notification for the elections to fill four seats of Members of Legislative Council, two each in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states, which will fall vacant on March 29. The East-West Godavari and Krishna-Guntur Teachers\' constituencies of Andhra Pradesh, represented by KVV Satyanarayana Raju
Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday issued notification for the elections to fill four seats of Members of Legislative Council, two each in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states, which will fall vacant on March 29. The East-West Godavari and Krishna-Guntur Teachers' constituencies of Andhra Pradesh, represented by KVV Satyanarayana Raju and KS Lakshmana Rao respectively, will fall vacant on March 29.
Similarly, the term of Dr K Nageshwar and Dileep Kumar Kapilavai, representing the Mahaboobnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates' constituencies respectively, will expire on March 29. The ECI is conducting elections to fill these vacancies.The EC announced the commencement of submission of nominations from today onwards and the last date for submission of the same is February 26.
The nominations will be scrutinised on February 27. The last date for withdrawal of candidature will be March 2 and polling will be held on March 16 from 8 AM to 4 PM. The counting of votes will be taken up on March 19. Meanwhile, both the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governments have requested the Election Commission of India to prepone the elections by one day in view of intermediate examinations beginning from March 16. The ECI is yet to take a decision in this regard.
