A police team, led by Kurnool Superintendent of Police A. Ravikrishna, has initiated steps for the extradition of hardcore red sanders smuggler Gangi Reddy from Mauritius.

A team has already left for Mauritius with certified copies of cases pertaining to the smuggler and have sought his extradition from Mauritius. The Mauritius court will take up his bail plea on Monday, today where in the Kurnool police have also impleaded in the case.

The government has already got a decree on seizure of all his properties in Tirupati, Chennai ,Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kadapa worth over Rs. 300 crore.

Gangi Reddy was arrested by interpol in the island country following AP government bulletins for his arrest due to his involvement not only in the red sanders smuggling but also in the Maoist attack on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in 2003 near Alipiri in Tirupati.
