Hyderabad: Both the YSRCP and the ruling TDP seem to have taken up no-confidence motion against Speaker Kodela Sivaprasasda Rao as a matter of prestige. The YSRCP has decided to go round East and West Godavari districts as well as Krishna and Rayalaseema and explain to people why they are opposed to the Pattiseema project and how it would adversely affect the Polavaram project. They will also apprise the people of how the Speaker is suppressing their voice in the House.

Meanwhile, the AP government has decided to convene a one-day special session in April first week to discuss the no-confidence motion. The TDP on Monday, upping its ante against the YSRCP, lashed out at Roja. Minister for Women and Child Welfare, Peetala Sujata, said that if Roja proved the allegations of corruption against her, she would quit politics and if Roja failed to do so, she should exit from politics. A visibly disturbed Sujata said that Roja Reddy had displayed the ego of being forward caste lady and the government should take action against her.

She said, “Roja's behavior in the assembly was highly objectionable. Roja constantly gives side comments even while CM Chandrababu Naidu is speaking.” It was also learnt that some persons had filed a case against Roja at Saifabad police station in city that she had insulted physically handicapped people during her speeches. Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that the notice given by YSRCP had not mentioned proper reasons for the issue of notice of no-confidence motion.

The motion against the Speaker is not technically sustainable, as it is not given in a proper format, he observed. Notwithstanding the outcome of the motion, the YSRCP is trying to use the opportunity to take on the ruling party government and the Speaker, saying that both have been stifling its voice in the house. If the notice for no-confidence is supported by a minimum of 50 MLAs, then it would go to Business Advisory Committee, wherein a date would be fixed for discussion on the motion against the Speaker. On the other had, if it fails to get the support of 50 MLAs, then the fate of notice would be sealed.

The Privilege Committee headed by Gollapalli Suryarao met on Monday and held a preliminary discussion on three issues related to privilege notices given by TDP and YSRCP MLAs. They include notice of privilege given by Government Chief Whip Kalva Srinivas against YSRCP MLA Roja. After the meeting, he said that the parties concerned would be asked to respond within a specified time limit. Then, the committee would decide whether to summon the parties concerned to appear before it.
