Anantapur: Deputy Chief Minister K E Krishnamurthy said that when TDP founder president and former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao decided to start the Telugu Ganga project, it was Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who opposed it and now after 30 years, when Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu wanted to start the Pattiseema Project, it was his son Y S Jaganmohan Reddy who was trying to create hurdles.

Addressing a public meeting after garlanding the statue of former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram on his 108th birth anniversary at the Arts college grounds here on Sunday, Krishnamurthy said that Jaganmohan Reddy, who was involved in several money laundering cases was scared of going to jail and was trying to divert the attention of the people.

Coming down heavily on the YSR Congress chief Jagan for opposing the Pattiseema project, he wondered whether Jagan was aware of the water crisis and the plight of farmers in the Rayalaseema region. The Deputy Chief Minister also lashed out at the Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who was creating problems for the people of Andhra Pradesh settled in Hyderabad.

He said that Hyderabad could be used as joint capital for 10 years and as such the TRS government had no right to issue a GO imposing entry tax on vehicles. He said that they met Governor ESL Narasimhan in this regard, and if necessary, would also approach the court. He criticised the Telangana government for creating problems for the Andhra students studying in Hyderabad.

Krishnamurthy said that losing Hyderabad after the bifurcation of the State was not a big deal. He said that a state-of-the-art capital would be developed in three years. He paid glowing tributes to former Deputy Prime Minister Jagjivan Ram.

Civil Supplies Minister Paritala Sunitha, Information Minister Palle Raghunath Reddy and Social Welfare Minister Ravela Kishore Babu were present. They recalled the services of Babu Jagjivan Ram who served the nation in various capacities. Later, the Deputy Chief Minister distributed cheques to the beneficiaries under different schemes.
