The much touted Singapore model has apparently left a trail of disappointment and frustration among the bureaucracy hand chosen by AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for running the AP Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA).


The State government’s ambitious plans to replicate Singapore type of functioning/administration has upset the bureaucracy and outsourced staff who find the environment very obstructive for career bureaucrats.


The officials, including top honchos, are visibly peeved with issues like lack of working space, chambers, and transportation along with two to three senior officials sharing a single room. There are no stenographers, computer operators, and clerks to maintain inward and outward registers to keep track of files. In some sections, the officials have become mere in-charges. Recently, an SE who was posted for Housing wing did not report to duties after he understood the ground realities in the CRDA.


The Singapore model of administration - public transportation, thin supporting staff, no paper work in spite of the fact that they were all asked to perform 150% of the agenda and tasks assigned to them in total disregard of the working environment and infrastructure . “There is virtually no infrastructure and work space at CRDA ", says one of the latest entry to CRDA Chief Srikanth’s office.
