Hyderabad: YSR Congress party leader M V Mysoora Reddy on Sunday blamed the Telugu Desam Party government for failing to secure Special Status to the State.

Speaking to the media at the party office here, Mysoora Reddy demanded that the government convene an all-party meeting on the issue. He said people had been migrating from the villages because of severe drought conditions in parts of the State.

“The people in drought-hit Rayalaseema region are in distress and they are migrating to other states for livelihood,” he pointed out. He said the farmers were not paid minimum support price (MSP) for their produce. Drinking water had become scarce. Only 25 per cent paddy had been purchased by the government agencies.

Mysoora Reddy alleged that the State government was not serious about tackling the grim situation in the State. Criticising the inertia in the TDP government, he said the State government was not sending reports properly to the Union government.

In protest against the negligent attitude of the TDP government, memoranda would be submitted to the government from mandal level on May 4 and 5. If the government failed to respond, an action plan would be chalked out, he warned.
