Centre’s new bill on road safety and transport might have called on a nation-wide strike but Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states witnessed partial response for the protest as only a section of transport services – cabs, trucks and auto rickshaws remained off roads.

RTC officials stated that the public transport had no impact with the strike in both the states as the major employees' union - Road Transport Corporation (RTC) did not participate in the protest and the bus services were operating as usual.

Protesting against anti-workers measures proposed in the bill, auto drivers unions organized a rally from Bagh Lingampally to Indira Park, disparaging the policies of the central government.

Opposing the hefty increase in penalties proposed for minor traffic violations, Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) protested at RTC Cross Roads while Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS) and other trade unions also were part of the protests.

However, the strike call had no impact in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as auto rickshaws and taxis plied as usual.
