Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy Vijayawada: CPI General Secretary Sura-varam Sudhakar Reddy termed Trinamool Congress win in civic polls in West Bengal as a great rigging. He said there was no support from people and the party won the elections with rigging. Speaking at a Meet-the-Press programme organised at the Press club here on Thursday, the CPI leader expressed concern over the use of money power during the elections.


He stressed the need to rejuvenate the Left parties to carry out sustainable agitations to protect the interests of people.The CPI leader termed the Modi government as a pro-Corporate sector government. He said the Corporate sector benefited in a big way after the BJP came to power at the Centre. Both the State and Central governments are trying to take away the lands from poor farmers and allot them to Corporate companies, he alleged.


He said after the introduction of liberalised policies by the then Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao in 1992, more than 31 crore acres of agricultural land was diverted to other purposes. He said that the Left parties would stage a country-wide protest against the new land acquisition bill on May 14.
