Andhra Pradesh government has constituted a 15-member State-level Steering Committee (SLSC) with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as its chairman to coordinate the activities at the apex level. It is in line with its vision to make the Stat to be among the best three states in the country by 2022 and the best State by 2029.

Andhra Pradesh government has constituted a 15-member State-level Steering Committee (SLSC) with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as its chairman to coordinate the activities at the apex level. It is in line with its vision to make the Stat to be among the best three states in the country by 2022 and the best State by 2029.

An order to this effect constituting the SLSC was issued on Tuesday. Accordingly, the SLSC will steer the State-level sector and strategy-based partnership processes. It will review the performance of the 20 non-negotiable development commitments and indicators. Also, the SLSC will oversee inter-sectoral and interdepartmental convergence issues, besides addressing unredressed grievances of partners and communities.

The apex council will also provide the much-needed policy directions and guidelines to the programmes from time to time as well as commission independent evaluations, reviews, and third party monitoring of the programmes and their implementation. The SLSC will facilitate scaling up of good practice and innovations across the districts and participate in learning workshops.

Further, it will take all necessary action required to achieve the objective of making the State best among the states in the country. These activities would be taken in line with its broad development and welfare vision, and for which the State government has initiated Smart Village-Smart Ward towards Smart Andhra Programme, the order said.

Further, the Smart Village - Smart Ward intends to achieve Smart infrastructure, Smart service delivery, Smart technology and innovation, Smart institutions along with optimal mobilisation and utilisation of available resources leading to faster and more inclusive growth.

To ensure effective coordination and systematic monitoring for achievement of desired outcomes in a time bound manner the SLSC has been constituted, it added. The State Planning Board Executive Vice Chairman would act as the vice-chairman of the new committee.

Special secretary planning department acting as the convenor, principal secretaries of Agriculture, Health and Family Welfare, Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, MA&UD, Women Development and Child Welfare, School Education, Food and Civil Supplies, Tribal Welfare, and secretaries of Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation, Information Technology and State Planning Board will be the members of the committee.

While the chief minister chairs the meeting once in a quarter. The Executive Vice Chairperson of the Committee will conduct review meetings on regular basis.
