The Andhra Pradesh government has tightened the rules in issuing fitness certificates to school buses in the State. Giving effect to the new rules which the educational institutions will have to follow, the State Transport Department has launched a programme here on Friday. According to the Joint Transport Commissioner (Road Safety) S A V Prasada Rao, as part of this programme, the educational institutions will have to upload their details on the transport department website. “They have to keep all the details of their buses in the e-Cart of the department website,” he added.
This would help the department, with a mouse click, to see the details of the bus, which includes the name and photographs of the drivers and attendants operating the bus. Also, the website provides an option to upload the details of the students which is optional, the JTC added.
Unless all these details are uploaded online, the buses being operated by the schools would not get fitness certificates, he said. These rules were imposed in the aftermath of repeated accidents of school buses in the State.
