Collector makes surprise visit

District Collector Sidharth Jain on Friday made a surprise visit to Damalcheruvu where he inspected PHC (primary health Centre), local tank supply channel, the works, which were going on under NREGS, and also interacted with women, including lactating women, on nutritional programmes for them.
During his inspection of the hospital, Jain verified the staff attendance register, stock position of medicines and other hospital records and expressed his dissatisfaction for not maintaining the records properly including the staff attendance register and register with regard to child health programmes.
Noting the low number of deliveries in the hospital, he directed the DMHO to take steps for promoting hospital delivery to ensure no risk to the mother and child. Later collector visited Bandarlapalli where he inspected the NREGS works and also the tanks in select villages in Pakala and Chandragiri mandal before winding up his surprise checks at Gadanaki near Chandragiri.
Noting that none of the 20 works sanctioned under Neeru-Chettuprogramme he directed Irrigation superintendent engineer Ramakrishn to start the works immediately by tomorrow (Saturday itself) and see that the deepening of the tanks (desilting) done before the onset of monsoon.
