Govt to spend 178 cr to lay roads in SC/ ST colonies

Addressing a review meeting of his department officials in Dwama office here, he said the government hostels would be converted into residential schools in a phased manner and each such institution would be provided an incubation centre at a cost of Rs 10 lakh.

Addressing a review meeting of his department officials in Dwama office here, he said the government hostels would be converted into residential schools in a phased manner and each such institution would be provided an incubation centre at a cost of Rs 10 lakh.


The Minister stated that arrangements were being made to admit in residential schools those students attending classes in private buildings if they were less than 50 in strength.

He stressed that there was a need for ensuring that the fruits of development reached the needy poor. In this context, he stated that the government had information that ineligible persons were availing themselves of the benefits like farm implements and vehicles.

He directed officials to check this trend, besides corruption and misuse. Responding to a plea by MLC Dr Geyanand for payment of pending honorarium for the last 12 months to tutors in government hostels, the Minister assured to strive for getting sanction of the required Rs 40 lakh.

To a request by MLC Samanthakamani to solve the problem of drinking water in SC and ST colonies, Kishore Babu said the required funds for repairing borewells would be sanctioned from the SC Sub-Plan funds.

He assured Dharmavaram MLA G Suryanarayana and B K Samudram ZPTC to establish youth training centres in B K Samudram and Dharmavaram, with a provision for free training to both boys and girls.
