According to the reports, seven of the fishermen from Kakinada are feared to have drowned and the East Godavari collector H. Arun Kumar stated that efforts are going on to trace them.


Three speedboats have been pressed into service by the Indian Coast Guard to search for the missing fishermen besides five helicopters. The collector informed that the state government would conduct an inquiry and provide assistance to the families of the fishermen in case the bodies are not found.


On Tuesday, good news came in the form of 82 fishermen from Kakinada returning to shore safely after being missing for the last few days. Fisheries deputy director D. Govindaiah said that the search is on for more three boats carrying 19 fishermen. East Godavari fisheries department joint director M. Koteswar Rao stated that 141 fishermen reached the coast at Srikakulam, Vizag and Odisha in the past two days.
