On the very first day of Pushkaralu festival, a stampede on the banks of River Godavari in Andhra Pradesh occurred when a large number of people were moving forward to take a holy dip in the river. PM Modi stated that he spoke to AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu over the situation. Here's what the Prime Minister and Congree Vice President posted on Twitter:


The Godavari Pushkaralu festival is observed once in 12 years and this time it is considered auspicious from astronomical point of view as it is Maha Pushkaralu that occurs once in 144 years.
