Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to make foolproof arrangements to prevent traffic hurdles on capital foundation day. Reviewing traffic arrangements with officials at his camp office here on Monday, the Chief Minister said that as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending the programme, the officials should make elaborate bandobast arrangements and ensure smooth flow of traffic.

He said large number of people are expected to attend the capital foundation. Explaining the arrangements, Director General of Police J V Ramudu and additional DGP N Surendrababu said 8, 330 policemen were deployed for traffic and bandobast arrangements for capital foundation. They said the routes leading to capital foundation venue from Guntur and Vijayawada would be made as one-way traffic to prevent traffic jams.

The Chief Minister said that all the campaign vehicles of 13 districts including TTD Prachara Ratham should reach the foundation venue in a rally. He said the sacred soil and water collected from 33 rivers should be brought to the foundation venue. Helicopters should be used to spray the sacred water at the meeting venue, he added. The Chief Minister also directed the officials to spruce up Vijayawada city on October 22 on the occasion of Dasara festival and Amaravati foundation.

Meanwhile, the Special Protection Group (SPG) took possession of the meeting venue including dais, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the people. The SPG officials sprucing up the area thoroughly and prevented the entry of people, who have been thronging the place to have a glance of Amaravati foundation arrangements.

Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana also inspected the meeting venue. The officials made arrangements for parking of nearly 5,000 vehicles near the venue. All the roads leading to foundation venue are being widened and the works are expected to be completed by October 20.
