Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday arrived at the venue of foundation stone ceremony at Amaravati. The Prime Minister was seen with Venkaiah Naidu and Governor ESL Narasimhan on the occasion. Modi laid the foundation stone (Shankusthanpana) for the capital city, Amaravati and conducted rituals amid the chants of the pandits.

PM Modi brought soil from the Parliament and holy water collected from River Yamuna which will be used in the construction of the capital. The ceremony was held amidst all the prominent dignitaries including Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

The Prime Minister then addressed the gathering at Amaravati fete and quoted a verse from noted writer Sri Sri's 'Maha Prasthanam' book. His Telugu quote - Mana Matti Mana Neeru. Neenu Saitam Praja Rajadhaniki Putta Mannu Samarpisthunnanu drew huge applause from the audience.
