Deputy CM claims that GO 97 was issued by the forest department in accordance with the orders passed during the previous government

Vijayawada: In a startling statement, deputy chief minister K E Krishnamurthy said that the bauxite GO 97 was put on hold as it was issued without knowledge of the Minister concerned. Much to the surprise of the reporters, who were present here on Tuesday, deputy CM said that the order was issued by the forest department in accordance with the orders issued during the time of previous government.

KE said that the GO was put on hold after Minister for Forests, Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy informed CM that it was issued without his notice. When asked about the fiasco surrounding the GO as a failure of the government deputy CM maintained that officials were responsible not the cabinet.

Responding to claims of growing dissidence among the people of Rayalaseema region and their move to form a joint action committee, KE ridiculed the entire episode as humbug.

“I am from the same region and no injustice whatsoever has been done in the TDP government. CM himself is from the region,” he ascertained.

Deputy CM said that the JAC was floated for political gains and said that there is no need for agitation. “I will not attend the JAC meeting slated to be held in Tirupati on November 21,” he affirmed.

Asserting that Rayalaseema is given priority in all developmental activities undertaken by the government, KE said that Kurnool has become a major centre owing to its connectivity to various states. “There is excellent connectivity from Kurnool not only to every nook and corner of the state but also other states as well. If the proposed road to the capital is completed, we can see more development in the region,” he said.

Commenting on the regularising land records in the State, deputy CM claimed that the ongoing ‘Mee Intiki Mee Bhumi’ is making great strides in streamlining revenue records.
