Vijayawada: Foundation stone has been laid down for the much anticipated capital city of Andhra Pradesh and so have global telecom companies been on their toe to fulfill their business aspirations. Reliance, Airtel, Idea, Vodafone and Singapore’s Singtel are eyeing all possible business opportunities in Amaravati.
Various services that these telecos are eyeing include high-end tele-conferencing, interactive programmes, back-end services for multi-point public address and big data. The telecos are discussing with the AP government to establish their presence wherein Airtel, Reliance Jio and BSNL have already implemented a few projects.
Reliance is all set to launch its free public WiFi in Vijayawada. A few days back, Airtel too had launched 4G services in the Vijayawada region. The telecom player has tied up with the government to provide e-literacy programme for Self-Help Group women in the state. The firm is believed to have lined up several plans for the state in which lakhs of active SHG women are present.
“We have sought time from Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to get the free public service unveiled in a couple of days. We are working closely with the government and will focus on every possible business opportunity in Amaravati and Vijayawada,” a senior Reliance official said.
The State owned BSNL too is active in this regard. It has already installed 17 free 5G hotspots for public WiFi service at the Pundit Nehru Bus Station in Vijaywada. BSNL has tied up with a US-based Quadgen, a partner of US telecom major AT & T to launch the service.
