Vijayawada: “Government should realise that the already existing entrepreneurs and manufacturers should be given equal opportunities and allowances that they are offering to foreign investors so that the local talent would also emerge huge at national and international-level,” opined convener of the NextGen, youth wing of the Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (APCCI), G Prasanna Kumar.

Addressing the media at the end of a meeting held with next generation of entrepreneurs and industrialists of the city, Prasanna Kumar opined that ‘Make in India’ was shown on papers. In realty, there was nowhere encouragement to the entrepreneurs or youngsters who took over their family industrial business. “Manufacturing involves lot of research and development (R&D) that requires financial assistance where we lacked. We are importing 10 per cent of the products from China, where government encourages their youngsters to start up industries and provide monetary support. Our State government should not look down upon capabilities of the youngsters. First, we should correct our domestic problems before we look at other investors,” he said.

He also said that youngsters who took part in the discussion had opined that single window clearance system was not functioning properly. All manufacturing units in the capital region or to be more clear in the State were sick and need some assistance for revival. The main reason people were opting out of manufacturing industries to service sector was due to lack of encouragement. Also, any product that was manufactured in the country should be of international quality to survive in marketing. As government was announcing several acres of land for the foreign investors, support to the native industries was dying, added Prasanna Kumar.
