Curb sale of spurious liquor in pilgrim city: LSP

Chittoor: Lok Satta Party (LSP) district president K Balasubramanyam has alleged that the most famous pilgrim city Tirupati has become a hub for liquor mafia to sale adulterated liquor. He also said that liquor brought from military canteens is available at various locations for sale in the city. He expressed fear that Vijayawada-type incident might repeat in Tirupati too where staff of a bar sold adulterated liquor to customers.

Balasubramanyam submitted a memorandum to Prohibition and Excise Circle Inspector Indira on Wednesday. He made an appeal to the CI to take immediate action for curbing sale of illicit liquor. He stated that sale of spurious liquor would be in crores of rupees on December 31st night.

The LSP leader said that he has information that illicit liquor is being sold at RTC bus stand, Jeevakona and Sivajyothi Nagar in the city. He advised the Excise officials to close all liquor shops in the city for two days. It is on December 31 and January 1. Party city unit president B Ramesh was also present.
