Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu came down heavily on the Government doctors in the state after reports surfaced that the doctors were running private nursing homes and clinics against the rules.

Several doctors working in health care centres and government hospitals in the villages of Vizianagaram district have private practice. Reportedly the doctors instead of attending duties in the hospitals were referring patients to their private clinics. Now, the AP government has decided to take action against these doctors following a report by the Medical Adiministrative Board and issued charge memos to several such doctors.

Chandrababu even made it clear that the doctors who are working in government hospitals won't be granted long leaves. The Chief Minister was speaking at the launch of the 102 health scheme for pregnant women and infants at Eluru Government Hospital where he said that the doctors can quit their jobs if they wish to go on long leave for a period of more than a year so that new doctors can be recruited in their place.
