Visakhapatnam: Endowed with natural beauty, the city of destiny, will become one of the best cities in the country, and the State government will make all its efforts in this direction, said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu while inaugurating the second day of the three- day Visakha Utsav at the RK Beach here on Saturday.

Addressing a massive gathering , the Chief Minister said he had seen the resilience of the people in coping with the devastating super cyclone Hudhud last year and then realised that the people in the city were a determined lot. He said with the bay on the east and Eastern Ghats and Araku Valley, the city is poised to become a major tourist destination in the near future. The government will spare no efforts in this direction.

“If a desert like Dubai can become a major tourist centre in the world, it will not be difficult to make Vizag a top tourist spot, which is endowed with a number of natural resources”, the Chief Minister said.

He said the government has plans to make tourist circuit comprising Amaravati, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam and a beginning was made with the city during this current festival. The Chief Minister said with commissioning of Bhogapuram International Airport, the city would expand from Vizianagaram to Anakapalli with all the infrastructure.

Naidu honoured playback singer SP Balasubrahmanym with Swara Kalasamrat award and said Balasubrahmanyam has completed 50 years in playback singing and hoped that he would continue singing even after attaining 100 years of age.

He brought pride and laurels to the Telugu speaking people across the world, he said. Later, the singer, along with music director MM Keeravani, regaled the audience with melodious songs. Ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Ch Ayyanna Patrudu and local MLAs were present.
