Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, addressing a cabinet subcommittee meeting at the Collectorate in Visakhapatnam on Sunday regarding the new Sand Mining Policy said that the AP Government will be issuing the notification for the auction of sand blocks on January 8.
Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that the subcommittee's recommendations on the new policy have been approved by the government and the auction of 1.5 crore cubic metres of sand is expected to be auctioned at the rate of Rs. 500 per cubic metre.
The Minister stated that while the tenders will be invited from the highest bidders for the sand blocks, there is no restrictions for the small farmers from mining sand from culverts, streams and transporting it on bullock carts.
