Rajahmundry: A comprehensive report for the development of Maintenance, Repair and Overhauling (MRO) facility, cargo, runway expansion and other facilities at Rajamahendravaram airport would be ready in three weeks, Airport Director M Raj Kishore has said.
Speaking at a seminar on ‘Tourism opportunities in Godavari districts and development of Rajamahendravaram airport,’ organised by the Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation, he hoped that there is great scope for the transportation of perishable goods from the region.
He stressed on the importance of developing spiritual and adventure tourism in the region. He further added that connection of waterways between Bhadrachalam and Dowleswaram, Dowleswaram and Kakinada, and Dowleswaram and Eluru and in turn with national waterways would boost economic growth of the region.
Chief consultant and Director, AP Project Facilitators and Consultancy Services Limited, K Lakshminarayana elaborated on rural, beach and adventure tourism opportunities in Godavari districts. He stressed the need to give thrust to food processing sector due to presence of aqua, agriculture and marine opportunities in the region.
MLC Somu Veerraju pointed out that economy of several countries across the world was dependent on tourism and urged the need to take leverage of tourism opportunities in the State. President-elect, Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation M Muralikrishna, Executive Director, Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation, Vice-President, Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation also spoke in the seminar.
