Nellore: District administration has organised Kavi Sammelanam on Tuesday at an auditorium of the Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) in connection with the upcoming event, Flamingo festival which would begin from January 9. Joint Collector A Md Imtiyaz said this has been an excellent occasion as rhymesters across the country have participated in the event and expressed their love towards nature and the winged beauties that regularly visit the district from various parts of the globe.
He said rhymesters have presented verses in Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and other languages during the Kavitsammelan. Flamingo Festival is significant in the district since thousands of birds from Siberia, Cambodia, Nigeria, and Egypt visit the places for breeding and go back to their habitations along with their offspring and there is every need to communicate to the people on their protection.
VSU Vice-Chancellor Prof V Veeraiah has appreciated the efforts of district officials for conducting the event. Perugu Ramakrishna, a familiar poet from Nellore, said some prominent writers have published their poems and expressions on winged beauties. Literary works of Prof Rajaram and Prof Sivasankar were released during the event.
VSU College Principal P Venkata Rao, Telugu poets Prof Sampath Kumar, Bandla Madhava Rao, Mandarapu Hymavathi, Sarikonda Narasimharaju, SK Khader Shareef; English poets MVS Satyanarayana, Reshma Ramesh, Pankajam Kottar, K Sarojadevi; Sanskrit poets Prof Allu Bhaskar Reddy, Karnataka and Tulu poet Dr P Sivakumar, Tamil poet Dr Sethu Kumaran, Malayalam poet Unni Krishnan, and others presented their works during the event.
