Vijayawada: The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) in association with other Central trade unions is planning ‘Chalo Parliament’ on February 15 to highlight the grievances of Anganwadi workers, according to AITUC national secretary Amarjeet Kaur.

Talking to the media at Dasari Nagabhushan Rao Bhavan here on Sunday, Amarjeet Kaur came down heavily on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for issuing memos to the Anganwadi workers who took part in an agitation in a peaceful manner to press their genuine demands.

How can the State government oust the services of 30,000 Anganwadi workers who took part in the protest on that day, she questioned. At least now, the Chief Minister should implement the wage hike GO immediately and recognise them as permanent employees, she demanded.

The AITUC leader also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for hoodwinking the people with his false statements. The Prime Minister who promised measures for the welfare of working class had virtually done nothing to safeguard the interests of the workers from exploitation, she said.

Several protests had been staged against the government seeking minimum wage of unskilled workers to be fixed at Rs 15,000 per month keeping in view the rise in general price level, till now not even single measure was taken in this regard.

The inefficiency of the government was hitting the working class and they were not able to meet their daily needs, she said.

AITUC State general secretary G Obulesu said that ‘Chalo Assembly’ would be staged during the Assembly budget session demanding a solution for the genuine demands of the Anganwadi Workers.

The AITUC State president Ch Rama Rao, MLC Chandrasekhar Rao and deputy general secretary R Ravindranath also present at the news conference.
